Stable Vibration Isolation Solution for High-CG Off-Road Devices

      Under extremely complex off-road conditions, on-board precision equipment is subjected not only to simple vibration, but also to sustained high-intensity shocks and multi-dimensional random loads. Recently, Xi’an Hoan Microwave Co., Ltd. has completed a highly challenging civil off-road vehicle modification project, successfully providing all-round vibration and shock protection for a certain type of on-board detection equipment.

       The equipment measures 1150mm × 700mm × 2015mm and has a total weight of 190kg, making it a typical precision load with high center of gravity and large mass. To ensure stable operation in extreme environments such as rugged mountain roads and Gobi deserts, conventional rubber or spring shock absorbers are inadequate—they either suffer from resonance due to insufficient damping or fail quickly under severe turbulence.

       To address this application pain point in off-road environments, the technical team at Xi’an Hoan did not adopt traditional solutions. Instead, they performed precise mechanical calculations based on the equipment’s structural characteristics and center-of-gravity distribution. The final selected solution abandoned the conventional four-point support and innovatively adopted a combined layout of 6 JGX-1276D-149A wire rope isolators:4 units are distributed at the four corners of the equipment base, mainly bearing severe vertical shocks; in response to the equipment’s 2-meter height and large roll moment, 2 additional units are installed at the high center of gravity on the back to suppress lateral sway during cornering and on sloped terrain.

As a flagship product of Hoan Microwave, the JGX-1276D-149A features a helical structure made of stainless steel wire rope. This dry-friction damper exhibits obvious nonlinear characteristics. When coping with random turbulence in off-road environments, it dissipates massive impact energy through the sliding and squeezing between steel wires, with an impact resistance of up to 30G. The all-metal design perfectly solves the problem of rubber components aging easily under high and low temperatures in field environments.

With profound technical accumulation in the military-to-civilian conversion field, Xi’an Hoan Microwave Co., Ltd. has applied high-reliability vibration isolation technology originally used in armored vehicles to the civilian off-road market.

The “four-bottom, two-back” mounting layout not only solves the vertical shock problem of 190kg heavy-duty equipment, but also effectively suppresses shaking caused by center-of-gravity offset, providing an unprecedented safety guarantee for domestic civilian high-mobility off-road equipment. This case also marks that the protection technology of domestic off-road on-board equipment has reached a new level.
